About
Our vision is to be earth’s most artist-centered company; standing with artists, not against them. To give them the control and support they deserve over the art they lovingly craft.
BIAS stands for Burns Independent Artist Services. We are a non-profit that helps artists create their own success in the music industry.
Think of us like an anti-label, providing you with the support you need, but without taking your music from you in the process. We believe in you owning your success; no rights-transfer, no lock-in contracts, no 360 deals.
James is the founder and owner of BIAS (he’s the “B” in BIAS). James’ background is rooted in music; graduating with a BSc in Music Technology, and leading several choirs around London.

Values
We wrote these as founding principals in how we behave. You can hold us to them, and can be assured in the knowledge that we incorporate them into everything we do.
Transparency,
always
We’re building BIAS in a world of obscurity, gatekeeping and confidence in businesses at its lowest point. We believe it’s better to over-communicate, and talk about what we get wrong and right- this helps build trust; creates and promotes authenticity.
Be
relentless
What BIAS is trying to achieve is hard, and there’ll be many obstacles; but how we approach those obstacles is one of the keys to success. Innovate, and think outside the box; and no matter how many no’s there are – all that’s needed is one yes.
Don't be
too serious
Send a gif or tell a joke – love what you do, and be yourself whilst doing it. Even though we’re doing hard work, and the road is long; find ways to make it enjoyable. We’re shaking up the industry, and that is a thing to celebrate.
Inclusion is
everything
We’re standing up for musicians. Standing up for people means using your voice and influence for those who need it most. Stand up for the LGBTQIA community, show up for BAME people, stop Asian hate. Be part of the change you want to see, and make a tangible difference.
